Common questions
Do my photos get uploaded?
No. Your library is read on your phone, by your phone: recognition, faces, search, and quality all run on the device. A photo leaves only when you deliberately send it somewhere, by publishing a page, printing a book, or writing a caption that the writing intelligence then reads once to understand what it shows. That copy is used for the request and not kept.
Do I need to sort, tag, or import anything first?
No. Point it at the library you already have. There is nothing to file and nothing to move, and the archive begins from whatever is on your phone today.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Once a day, after you have written something, your written record is saved to a private container in your own iCloud account. Reinstalling the app finds that snapshot and offers it back. Your photographs come back the way they always do, through Apple Photos, and Thoughtbox reconnects your words to them.
Who else can see any of this?
Nobody, unless you choose it. There is no audience, no feed of other people, and nothing is public by default. When you do share a page, its link is unlisted, excluded from search engines, and revocable: unpublishing takes the page and its images down.
What does it cost?
Thoughtbox is free during the private beta. Pricing arrives with the App Store release, and printed books are priced per object at that time. Nobody in the beta will be charged for something they were told was free.
Do I have to buy a book?
No. The archive is the product and it stands on its own. The book is what it can become when you want the thing on a shelf.
What if it says something about me that is wrong?
Tell it so. Every machine sentence takes your pen, and a thesis you refuse is not written against. Corrections are kept as part of the record, which means the next reading already knows, and your own words always outrank anything inferred from a photograph.
Can I get my writing back out?
Yes, in one action, whenever you want it, in a plain readable format. Deleting is just as direct: Agents, then Account actions, then Delete account. The privacy page explains exactly what that removes and the two records that law requires be kept.
Is my writing used to train AI models?
No. The provider that powers the reading and writing processes your text under an agreement that forbids training on it, and there are no advertising trackers or third-party analytics anywhere in the product.
Which devices does it run on?
Thoughtbox is an iPhone app. It works with the library on that phone, including large ones, and indexes in the background while you use it.
